I happened upon some marigolds in a little nook this morning. I don't know if these are white marigolds or not but they reminded me of that woman from Iowa who won a contest conducted by Burpee Seed.
Alice Vonk of Sully, Iowa, kept saving the seeds from her palest marigolds. Next year she'd sow those seeds and eventually she had seeds that she thought would meet the Burpee specifications. She was awarded $10,000 in 1975.
