Naming rights/wrongs

A big SUV behind me on the winding road. Passes once we're on the divided highway. Seven miles go by. Guess who's directly ahead at the stoplight?

The SUV was a Lincoln Navigator. They start at about $55K. Can you imagine?

Another SUV that passed me -- and was also at the stoplight -- was a white Jeep. The model name was impressed on the bumper. I could read P-A-S-S. My first thought was, "It's a Bypass." It was a Compass. I think Bypass would be a great name for an SUV.

LohMan and I have had this discussion before: Why aren't cars ever given dog breeds for names? Would you drive a Beagle? Charles Darwin would. Would you drive a Doberman pickup? A Poodle subcompact?
