Memory bank, January 2

One hundred years ago, junior high kids began grousing about having to go back to school after Christmas break. Berkeley's McKinley Introductory High School opened its doors strictly to junior high students on January 2, 1910. The tradition had been to structure schools as 8-4 (grades 1-8 and 9-12). Frank Forest Bunker, Berkeley's superintendent of schools. thought the 6-3-3 pattern would be more successful.
