Green Dot is working to transform the Los Angeles public high schools into successful institutions. The system operates under six tenets.

1. Small, safe, personalized schools (total enrollment no more than 525).
2. High expectations of all students.
3. Local control with extensive professional development and accountability.
4. Parent participation (at least 35 hours of volunteer service annually).
5. Maximize funding to the classroom.
6. Keep schools open later -- facilities available until at least 5 p.m.
