I was reading a story about retail sales for 2009, which saw the biggest decline in the last 40 years. Some stores had a good December.

Luxury stores like Saks Inc. and Nordstrom also saw strong December sales gains and even Sears Holdings posted a small gain on rising sales at its Kmart chain."Even Sears." That made me laugh. I actually even shopped at Sears during December (and a little at Kmart, too). I bought the last pair of mittens at my local Sears -- I'd already looked every place else.
