Candid camera

The camera is not necessarily your friend. This website is devoted to pictures of shoppers at Wal-Mart. Most of the shots are taken from the subject's back side (gee, I wonder why?).

I took a picture at Wal-Mart yesterday. I'd show it to you but it was slightly out of focus. It was a snap of the advertised price for a 3-pack of red, yellow and orange bell peppers. The last time I'd bought red peppers, the clerk charged me $1.68 apiece and I could have sworn the sign said they were on special for 50 cents. Which is why I bought them in the first place. Her response when I said the registered price was wrong? "I have to charge you what the machine tells me." Anyway, this time the machine was right so I didn't have to produce photographic proof.

The only other time I've taken a picture at Wal-Mart was around the Fourth of July 2008. Sweet corn rejects:

A couple of months ago, I printed off a sheet that explains "rights and remedies when stopped or confronted for photography." I carry it in my camera case, to be on the safe side. In the meantime, you might do the world a big favor as an amateur photographer.
