I was in a westbound car on the Will Rogers Turnpike in eastern Oklahoma on June 26, 2009, at 1:15 p.m. There had been a terrible accident in the eastbound lane a few minutes before. Actually there were two accidents at the spot. The first one had caused traffic to stop. A truck driver who did not notice that the cars ahead of him were not moving ran over the line of stopped cars. Ten people died.
I pay more attention to what's going on behind me than I used to. It will be ever thus.
