I recently took an interest in the Jack Gilbert Graham case, so I bought the Kindle version of Mainliner Denver : the bombing of Flight 629, by Andrew J. Field (3D Press, 2005). Graham was convicted of the murder of his mother, Daisie E. King, while she was a passenger on United's Flight 629 from Denver to Portland on November 1, 1955. A bomb in her suitcase exploded and the plane crashed, killing all 44 people on board.
You can read the main particulars of the case through this FBI online entry. The whole idea of a young man planting a bomb on an airplane full of strangers to get a flight insurance payoff via the one person he did know was shocking in 1955 and it is still shocking 60 years later.
