Ploddin' at the Savoy

The "License Plates" episode of Highway Patrol first aired on April 15, 1956. There is nothing particularly noteworthy about it, other than the residential neighborhood near the crime scene. Some ordinary guy (this was the point of the show, how ordinary and nondescript the criminal was) robbed a furniture store. And while the HP was getting the details from the store owner, the guy robbed the drugstore one door down.

The one thing that stood out for me was the "undercover car" that Sgt. Dan Mathews used. Talk about nondescript! It's a 1955 Plymouth  Savoy. I myself don't know Plymouths from the 1950s but I can tell it's a '55 and not a '56 because the rear lines slope down.

The Savoy got a whole new look in 1960. No more "undercover car" for it!
