Lt. Dan Mathews of the Highway Patrol had fun with his portable lie detector in the January 23, 1956, episode of Highway Patrol, "Lie Detector." The elderly woman was robbed at gunpoint at her motel and then was pistol-whipped when she wouldn't hand over her money. Lt. Mathews administered the lie detector test to her. She was being honest about what she thought she saw. But her nephew back there -- are his pants on fire?
