We've been following "The Fugitive" reruns on late-night TV. The first two seasons were absolutely gripping. The third was average. The fourth season seems tired. David Janssen seems to have run out of steam on the character.
But the final two episodes are some of the highest-rated television ever. The first is tonight. It's got the energy back. And it has a great line by Diane Baker's character, Jean Carlisle. She's someone from Dr. Kimble's hometown and just happens to be on the scene when Lt. Girard and a Los Angeles police captain are laying a trap for Kimble.
Kimble and Jean Carlisle are discussing the old hometown and he mentions her banker father was a good golfer.
Jean Carlisle: He shot in the low seventies, and embezzled in the high eighties.
I laughed.
