John Callender (victim, pending): You want to play hard with me, you picked yourself the wrong patrick.
Never heard that one before. Patsy, yes. Patrick, no.
PM: Paul, this is Perry. How fast can you put a shadow in the Richmel Hotel?
PD: If I’m lucky maybe fifteen minutes.
PM: We’ll compromise on ten.
The murder occurs at said Richmel Hotel. Paul, Perry and a Drake operative on the scene discuss their options.
PD: They’ll find out we paid him (the house detective) twenty bucks to let you hide out in the mop closet.
Perry tells Paul to phone Homicide and report Callender's death, which he does.
PM interrupting PD: Report it, the law requires. You’ve done that. You don’t have to gossip with them.
The case takes an interesting twist at about the 50-minute mark. Hamilton Burger is bewildered by the ensuing revelations.
PM to HB: I’m not claiming a thing. I’m trying to get the defendant in this case acquitted. As far as the murder case is concerned, you are quite at liberty to solve it.
