The Case of the Drowsy Mosquito

The setting for last night's Perry Mason was a mining community. The townspeople are stockholders in a corporation whose goal is to find a mythical lost mine in their area and make everyone rich. Perry comes to town because his client has been injured falling down a shaft that had been booby-trapped and he has some financial complications he needs legal help with.

Moffgat is attorney for the mining company. He practices corporate law. Collegiality doesn't seem to be a strong suit.
Moffgat: I must say your reputation has been greatly exaggerated.
PM: My reputation?
Moffgat: As being a difficult man to come to terms with.
PM: When the occasion requires, Mr. Moffgat, I can be difficult. Quite difficult.

The board of directors is having a meeting. The victim-to-be is chairing.
Braddison: In view of our heavy responsibilities for our new properties, any dividend's out of the question.
Ann Doran: Don't you realize that practically every soul in town owns stock and they count on the income to try to make ends meet?
Braddison: Then they'll just have to un-count this time.

Perry thinks he can use a mineralight (the "mosquito") and locate the mine in 90 minutes, in spite of the fact that the locals haven't discovered it in 90 years of looking. Perry, Della and Paul enter the mine.
DS: It’s dark.
PD: Well, what’d you expect – streetlights?
