I have spent a lot of time looking at old Missouri newspapers online. The Northwest and Southeast corners of the state are well-represented in Google News Archives. St. Joseph and Cape Girardeau newspapers are great repositories of Missouri news of the day. For the most part their newspapers have been dailies.
There are 15 titles in a row that begin with St. Joseph in the Google archives and I don't bother to give each one its own entry below. The only thing to watch for is that one maverick title, the St. Daily Joseph Gazette. At least one edition actually appeared under that flag. All the others in the grouping are the St. Joseph Daily Gazette. The Daily Morning Herald and the Morning Daily Herald are also St. Joe papers without the location clue in their names.
