We went to visit Illinois kin today and I noticed an emblem on the Illinois 110 road signs. What's with this CKC? It's the Chicago-Kansas City Expressway, a route apparently envisioned for nearly 60 years. From the KC end, it's I-35 to U.S. 36 and across into Illinois. U.S. 36 is one of our favorite stretches of highway.
Here are a few pictures from the Illinois side of CKC.
Me, I didn't take any road photos today because I was sitting in the back seat. And it was raining for a good portion of the day. The Bill Burmaster website I linked to above has a ton of photos of road signs. The sections of CKC I am familiar with (KC to Macomb) are good highways, connecting two great cities! And if you head out right now, you'll enjoy the redbuds in the wild.
