TRUMAN DEFEATS NIXON

Not really, of course. Gov. Jay Nixon had asked the Missouri General Assembly to drop two state holidays as a money-saving measure. Lincoln's Birthday and Truman Day (May 8, birthday of Harry S. Truman) were picked. There are two bills that would do just that but they haven't been passed in time to zero-out Truman Day in 2010.
Here in State Employee Town, it's a big deal that Truman Day was spared this year. Or else it was a slow news day.
