Waldo Porter Johnson was one of 14 Senators expelled for support of the Confederacy.He served in the Confederate Senate for a time and at the end of the Civil War he moved to Canada.
Johnson had been a member of the Missouri General Assembly which met in 1847. He was an attorney by profession and after his yearlong sojourn in Canada, he came back to his practice in Missouri. In 1875 he was president of the Missouri Constitutional Convention.
