We watched "Appaloosa," a 2008 Western directed by its star, Ed Harris. He co-wrote the screenplay, too. Jeremy Irons looms large as one of those men "who needed killing." It put me in mind of "Quigley Down Under." Irons plays the Alan Rickman dangerous bully -- and even sounds like him.
I like the friendship between Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen. I didn't like the Renee Zellweger character, Allie, but I don't know if you're supposed to. I did get sick of hearing her name in every line of the dialogue.
During the credits at the end we hear Ed Harris singing a song he wrote. I guess he wants to be Clint Eastwood when he grows up.
