I was looking for information on a man from southern Missouri who served in both houses of the state legislature around the turn of the 20th century. The obituary for George Robert Curry reported that he had moved to Nebraska and served three terms in the Nebraska Legislature. A Nebraska Blue Book verified that he had been a state representative.
Hold everything. I thought Nebraska was unicameral and members of the General Assembly were all called "Senator." Nebraska became unicameral in 1937. No other state has followed suit. Minnesota's House Research did a report comparing the authority, efficiency, accountability, etc., of unicameral and bicameral legislatures in 1999.
That Curry family, by the way, has been an important one in its area. Two of George's sons served in the Missouri legislature. I.T. and J.E. and their descendants were and are bankers and newspaper owners.
