Defiance

Sounds like the right noun for this state of affairs. I would assume the publicity concerning the presence of artwork owned by a college being displayed (apparently without authorization) in a state rep's office will bring about a quick resolution.

I was especially interested to learn that a state rep's local office is considered "state property." If the State of Illinois owns a bunch of buildings that state reps use as local offices, it could help explain the pending insolvency. Or perhaps the money allotted to a legislator can be used for rent. But does that make the office "state property"? I am curious about that.
