Lon Chaney was the man of 1,000 faces and Mel Blanc was the man of 1,000 voices.
I am much more familiar with Mel's work than with Lon's. He was famous for his cartoon voices, of course, but he was also a frequent guest on the Jack Benny show. I remember when Mel was seriously injured in a car accident. He was in a coma for weeks and, because he had so many broken bones, in a full body cast for months.
The cartoon voicing is what brought him out of his coma. A doctor referred to him by some of his characters' names and he responded in voice. I'm glad that there are such talents as his and that the legacy lives on. It's been 20 years since Mel died, but Bugs Bunny is immortal.
