When I was reviewing recipes that had macadamia nuts, I found one for macadamia nut brittle with crushed red pepper flakes (that stuff you sprinkle on pizza). I didn't use it because it called for salted, roasted macadamias, which I didn't have. But I decided to add the crushed red pepper to peanut brittle when I made that next. Which I just did.
My recipe is big enough that you spread the batch on two cookie sheets. So I spread half the cooked candy on a cookie sheet and then added the pepper to the rest of the batch. Tastes the same except your tongue notices the difference. Always got to be trying something new, right?
