This handkerchief was in a box of photos and cards that came from my grandparents. Grandpa was in the Big Red One in the Great War. I assume he bought this for his mother when he was overseas but he didn't give it to her. Or she could have been one of those women who said, "You shouldn't have. You keep this." Or perhaps Aunt Vera went through her mother's things and gave this back to her brother, my grandfather.
