Real grit

We're re-watching True Grit, the movie for which John Wayne was awarded the Best Actor Oscar. I suggested it because we'd just seen Robert Duvall in Secondhand Lions and I wanted to watch him as that SOB Ned Pepper.

It's been 40 years since the movie was made. I just read that the Coen Brothers are doing a remake. While no one could accuse John Wayne of not having true grit, I bet the Coens do a really gritty turn. They say their version will be truer to the Charles Portis novel, which is "a very odd book." Figures.
