Memory bank, October 10

The first commercial plane crash that involved sabotage occurred on October 10, 1933. FBI Bureau Chief Melvin Purvis of Chicago headed up the investigation. Dale Robertson!

No one was ever brought to justice or even claimed responsibility for the crime, which killed seven people (four passengers, three crew members). It was a cross-country flight, which left Newark, New Jersey, with a final destination of Oakland, California. The final destination turned out to be Chesterton, Indiana, home of Indiana Dunes State Park.
