A common childhood game nobody else knows

My cousin stopped in to visit me at work yesterday. He lives over 1200 miles away so to have this unannounced "I was in the neighborhood" visit was really cool. One thing that came up in conversation was the pull to have another cousins reunion. We did one in Colorado five years ago and fully expected to have another in three or four years. Time flies.

He suggested we gather in our mothers' hometown, which is in western Michigan. And he said he liked to play that hide-and-seek game where one team goes out (after dark) with chalk and marks clues on the sidewalk as to where they went. The other team goes out after a decent interval and tries to locate the lead team before they get back to base. We called it "Chalk the Corners," although if I google that phrase nothing comes up. We played it a long time ago in a small town with sidewalks. It's not a game that holds up to analysis well (what are the rules, what is the challenge, what is the point) but it was fun to be out messing around with flashlights and trying to mislead the seeking team.

Well, cousins across the generations, I'm still game if you are.
