I opened a Blogger account a couple of years ago but only started posting in January 2009. The impetus in January was to share recipes. I haven't done a recipe in months. Here's a good one.
(Slow-cooker) Blue Ribbon Baked Beans
3 15-oz. cans pork and beans (discard the "pork")
1 c. KC Masterpiece barbecue sauce (or some other brand of that type)
1 c. brown sugar
3 T. sugar
¼ c. honey
3 large marshmallows
½ tsp. black pepper, freshly ground
½ tsp. liquid smoke
¼ tsp. garlic salt
⅛ tsp. paprika
⅛ tsp. onion salt
Choice of 2 c. chopped smoked pork OR sausage OR brisket OR ham
I. In large saucepan, combine beans, BBQ sauce, sugars, honey and marshmallow. Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat.
II. Stir in the seasonings and simmer an additional 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
III. Transfer the beans to a slow cooker and add the meat. Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
Serves 16.
Voice of Experience
I've never made the recipe with meat but it sounds good that way.
