What do Frank Sinatra, The Doors and Perry Como have in common? They all recorded a song called "Close to You."
Perry did that Bacharach-David song that the Carpenters are famous for, the one about the birds wanting to be close to you.
Ray Manzarek of The Doors did a bluesy song. "Close to you, baby, like water's wet."
And then there's this one by Livingston-Lampl-Hoffman, which is actually beautiful.
I'd never heard of it before. Thanks to Standard of the Day blog for helping with my education. (And leading me down the garden path with Perry Como and Ray Manzarek.)
