A list of double-sided hit records. I happened to hear a snatch of the A side of No. 61 just this morning when I was in a local bakery. It holds up.
The list leads me to conclude that Elvis Presley and the Beatles sold a ton of singles. I've heard (or heard of) most of the records (one side or the other) and performers. But who was No. 87?
Jack Scott. His double-sided hit record in 1958:
"My True Love." (I love the commenter who says, "I almost cried, but not quite.")
"Leroy."
After listening to the record on youtube.com, I still don't know it. "Leroy" sounds like something Carl Perkins would have done. The Wikipedia page on Jack Scott says he is "undeniably the greatest Canadian rock-and-roll singer of all time." I'm sure Paul Anka would agree.
