And I'm red all over.
A family member told me that the Quincy, Ill., Public Library has a newspaper archive and I would get a lot of hits if I searched for my maiden name. My dad's people are from western Illinois. Our family name is common enough but the people who share it never seem to be our kin.
When anyone ever asks, "Are you related to So-and-So Daugherty?" the answer has always been "No." And I'm especially sure of that after doing a search for Daugherty in this newspaper archive.
The first hit was "Daugherty may be crazy." Followed in quick succession by:
"Was inmate of Quincy home."
"Takes hubby to Texas to work."
"Said she was a lewd woman."
"Daugherty acquitted."
"Pension fraud is unearthed."
"Inquest over Daugherty body."
