I start my weekday mornings with James Lileks' Bleat (link at right). Today he linked to Jim the Realtor and his videos on YouTube. A reality check for realty.
I had to laugh when I saw a Wall Street Journal piece on two fund managers who have been arrested and charged with using other people's money to fund their extravagant lifestyles -- including buying Steiff teddy bears. But then the laugh was on me when I read farther and learned that I'm one of those other people (IPERS pension funds). A reality check for pensions.
These men, who are in their 60s, face up to 20 years in prison on each charge if convicted. I doubt a teddy bear would provide much solace there, but I've never had a Steiff so I can't be sure.
