25 random things

about my friend.
1. She was born in Clarinda, Iowa.
2. She was never in band.
3. She was in the top 5 percent of our class when we were juniors in high school.
4. She bought about a dozen packages of toilet tissue -- a bunch of different brands -- once when we were shopping. She had the coupons. Coupons expire but toilet paper has a long shelf life.
5. Her dad made French toast with hamburger buns at least once, with white Karo syrup on the side.
6. One of her earliest memories was of watching the family home burn.
7. She was a devout Christian.
8. The first time I ate stuffed peppers was at her house.
9. Her dad covered their living room walls with panels of real wood, rather than 4x8 sheets of Masonite.
10. When we were in eighth grade, she noticed that we both had maroon Ban-Lon cardigans. She would call me the night before to say, "Let's wear the sweaters with our black skirts tomorrow."
11. She always planned to be a nurse.
12. She graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in St. Louis and she was a skilled, compassionate nurse.
13. Her sister and brother-in-law are two of the finest people you'd ever want to know.
14. When fondue was "in," she fixed it.
15. She liked Tupperware.
16. She asked me to be one of her bridesmaids when she married Don. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary June 8, 2008.
17. She had two pregnancies -- and four kids! Billy came first, then John, then Merrie and Melodie.
18. Jenny, Debbie, Daniel and Shelby spent tons of time with their grandmother at her home, at Branson, at Pigeon Forge and other places. Eddie and those who come after him will have to rely on stories that the older kids tell.
19. She had a terrific sense of humor.
21. She didn't expect life to be problem free and it wasn't.
22. Most people called her Jan but to me she was always Janet.
23. Her 61st birthday is February 11, 2009.
24. She did not live to see it.
25. She is missed.
