When seniority is outweighed

This discussion about removing an Art Deco storefront in Boulder, Colo., and replacing it with something to resemble the original storefront is interesting. A preservationist notes that the Art Deco storefront has served the store "longer than the time of the original, pre-1940 one."

The owner is the grandson of the man who put up the 1930s facade. He is in favor of replacing the storefront that was, shall we say, grandfathered in.

The article cited above is from 2010. Since then, Juanita's and its successor, PastaVino, have both closed. The storefront was redone and can be seen here.
