When two worlds collide

This is a fine song, written in 1960 by Bill Anderson and Roger Miller when they were en route from Nashville to San Antonio. Bill Anderson recalls they were in Roger's Rambler station wagon:
Roger was driving until he and I started writing the song. Then he asked Johnny [Seay] to drive, and Roger and I got in the back seat with a guitar. It was about nine at night and there was a full moon visible out the left-hand side of the car.
In this cover by B.J. Thomas, Bill Anderson appears to be remembering that night. I wish Roger Miller hadn't died so young.
