The Case of the Purple Woman

This episode of Perry Mason was about a painting, a forgery, an art dealer and, of course, a murder. I particularly enjoyed the camera work. The first thing to grab my attention was the shot of Perry talking with his client at the jail. The camera is positioned to their backs.
The defendant is played by Bethel Leslie.
The matron looks like she is posing for a portrait.

The Perry Stare from the side. Eerie!

Capisce?
During the trial, Perry and Paul visit the art gallery of the victim. They had a key supplied by his widow, the defendant.

The judge looks like he's 95 years old! Actually Edwin Jerome was 72 at the time. He died the following September. The witness is Robert H. Harris, who was in seven Perry episodes and who played the murderer three times.

And then there was the scene where Perry, Paul and Della are hashing over the case to date and Della leans way back in her chair. Too cute! Just a fun episode, if you like murder and stuff.
