We were watching the "Girl Bandit" episode of
Highway Patrol and the eatery jumped off the screen. This wasn't one of those generic signs slapped up for the shot. It was
the real thing.

One of the best things about
Highway Patrol is the look of things, from the cars to the highways to the neighborhoods. The actors for the most part (we're still in the first season) are the "ordinary" people who never hit the big time but who worked steadily.

The girl bandit uses three guys in quick succession. The actress is
Jeanne Cooper, who went on to star in
The Young and the Restless for 40 years (1,119 epsidoes!). She is also Corbin Bernsen's mother.
This bad girl's hat caught my eye. It reminded me of a toilet-lid cover. The actress is Mala Powers (Roxanne to Jose Ferrer's Cyrano). The episode is "The Case of the Frightened Fisherman," Show #201 in the
Perry Mason run.
