The Case of the Crooked Candle

Exchange in the doorway of Perry Mason's law offices at quitting time.
Larry Sands: Oh, Mr. Mason. I was afraid I'd miss you.
PM (curtly): You didn't.

PM: Would you say that that candle is crooked, or rather, leaning at an acute angle?
Tragg: Obviously.

Paul Drake comes in wearing a tuxedo.
Della: Well, will you look?
PD: Perry, I gotta make this fast. I forgot to cash a check. Could you let me have fifty dollars? Better make it seventy-five.

MeTV is back to the first year of Perry Mason, although I missed the first two weeks. I love the really old episodes. Paul is such a dish and Perry is edgier, very unstodgy. The show picked up a lot of baggage over the years.
