Dorothea Warren Fox illustrated the Penny Marsh Public Health Nurse series (which I'd never heard of) and she also did Baby & Child Care by Dr. Benjamin Spock (which everyone has heard of). I would think the best thing about being an illustrator is that you know what your subject would be.
