The Case of the Playboy Pugilist

Gary Lockwood played the title character, so I assumed he would be the defendant. That was an incorrect assumption. The defendant was his trainer, a man with his work cut out for him.

Jimmy the Trainer: Keep your chin down. Nobody's taking your picture.

The Playboy had a very short attention span and a very shallow sense of loyalty. Even though old Jimmy was teaching him the ropes, Playboy signed a contract with a wealthy promoter (soon-to-be victim).  Promoter is always looking out for Number One.

Keith Lombard: He bought a second-rate, broken-down ball club. Everyone thought he was crazy until he fired the entire team -- and made a fortune on the real estate.

Perry comes on the scene for contract issues and he defends Jimmy when the time comes. At the end of the show, Jimmy is still dealing with a fighter who is distracted by the pretty girls in the crowd even when he's fighting a match. He coulda been a contender.
