Crystal Ball

The Golden Gate Bridge's 75th anniversary was celebrated a couple of weeks ago. Here is the program from the dedication events. Scrolling through the pages, I see that Bethlehem Steel Corporation supplied the structural steel. And TWA has the Sky Chief, with seats that cost $500 apiece. And then there is the "surprise drink of the year," Double Cola.

Gee, I never heard of one of those companies. It's still in business, though.

Bethlehem Steel. Will the U.S.A. ever see its likes again? This website ranks it No. 6 among the worst business failures in America.

And TWA. It didn't make the elite spot among those business failures. No, that belongs to PanAm. The terrorists won that one.
