Way back during the JFK era, there was a push to encourage physical fitness. Walk 50 miles. Do enough sit-ups to qualify for a fitness award. There was a public service announcement featuring John Wayne. He did a voiceover about the importance of physical fitness while the camera showed folks playing cards. The PSA ended with John Wayne saying, "But our wrists are in great shape."
