Judy Ann Dunn -- what a doll!

We're watching Rawhide, a Tyrone Power-Susan Hayward western from 1950. Directed by Henry Hathaway, it's a hostage-situation suspense movie and really good. Jack Elam is a psycho bad guy, who's part of a hodgepodge gang led by Hugh Marlowe.

The real star of the movie is a toddler, though. Judy Ann Dunn plays Susan Hayward's niece and she is just a doll. I agree with this reviewer from amazon.com:
The baby in this movie is worth buying it, a hundred times over. Judy Ann Dunn playing the role of Callie Holt rules. She saves the whole movie, using only her wits and brandishing a knife. Our whole family loves this movie. Judy Ann Dunn, if you're still out there, we love you.
She didn't make another movie as far as I know. But she was pure delight and would have had a hard time topping that performance!
