The director of Missouri's Department of Transportation was named by Governing magazine as one of eight "Public Officials of the Year." Pete Rahn has been head of MoDOT since 2004, coming from the New Mexico DOT.
For whatever reason, MoDOT is my favorite state agency. There seems to be a real can-do and, better yet, can-do-with-the-resources spirit. I see the department's mission is to delight its customers.
