Invisible man

We're watching "Where Eagles Dare," a 1969 WWII thriller starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. Allied officers on a mission, they spend almost the entire movie in German uniforms. I wondered about the camouflage gear they wore. I didn't realize that variations on that blotchy stuff had been in use so long. Even longer than that.

Here is Henrik Clausen's up-to-date reporting on camouflage uniforms of the world. Isn't the Web great?

"Where Eagles Dare," BTW, puts the thrill in thriller. Richard Burton is quite believable as an action hero, even if he was in his mid-40s.
