Memory bank, October 27

I've dug it out of the files at work often enough: a copy of the infamous "Extermination Order"penned by Missouri Governor Lilburn Boggs. It was issued on October 27, 1838. Boggs declared that Mormons were making war on the state and they needed to driven out of Missouri or "exterminated."

The Mormons established a settlement at Nauvoo, Illinois, and built a thriving community -- until they were driven out of Illinois in 1846.
