Memory bank, September 29

Today is Michaelmas, the day that the Crofts are to move into Kellynch, Sir Walter Elliot's ancestral home (Persuasion, by Jane Austen). Sir Walter's middle daughter, Anne, doesn't know it yet but it is the day her life begins to get set right.

The Roger Michell version of "Persuasion" is my favorite movie ever. I can hear Anne (Amanda Root) say "Mick-l-mus" just as plain as day. Frankly, I've watched the movie so many times I can say the dialogue along with the characters.

Perhaps I'll see a Michaelmas daisy today. Actually, what I'd like to see is "Persuasion."
