Missing and exploited children

There have been many high-profile kidnapping/missing child cases over the years. The Lindbergh baby, Charles Jr.
Bobby Greenlease.
Johnny Gosch.
Adam Walsh.
Ethan Patz.

Maybe some that struck close to home with you. Shortly after we moved to Kansas City, 9-year-old Denise Clinton was kidnapped from a motel on I-29. Her grandparents ran the motel and Denise was staying overnight as a privilege. She was in the lobby when a man held up the motel. The robber bound and gagged her grandparents. It wasn't until after they freed themselves and called the police that they discovered Denise was missing.

The next year I was in college and I always thought of young Denise every time we passed the Great Plains Motel, going to and from Maryville. Her remains were found in a remote spot in Wyoming two years after she disappeared. No one was ever charged in the case.

Six years ago Christian Ferguson disappeared when the car in which he was sitting was stolen. He was 9 years old at the time and he had a serious medical condition that required he take medicine daily. The car was found but Christian's whereabouts are still unknown.

Things like this have been on my mind because of the reunion Jaycee Lee Dugard just had with her family, 18 years after she was kidnapped.
