A colleague let the rest of us know today that he spent last Friday night in jail. It was a fund-raiser for the Jefferson county lock-up in Hillsboro, Missouri. Bed and breakfast for $50, with proceeds to be used to purchase mattresses for a recent addition to the jail.
I watched the TV news spot (Aaron is one of those interviewed) and was amazed to learn that "hundreds" of prisoners are routinely incarcerated in Hillsboro. The county's population is over 200,000 and Jefferson county leads the state in the number of meth busts year after year.
Perhaps the busts that happen in the state are the good news. People are being caught.
