We just watched the fifth in Tom Selleck's TV movie series featuring the Robert B. Parker character Jesse Stone. Jesse is a California police officer with personal problems who is starting fresh as a police chief in a small town in Massachusetts.
"Thin Ice" is the first in the series not based on a Parker book. Mox nix to me. I haven't read RBP in years so I'm just watching this as a Tom Selleck cop show mystery thing. The characters are appealing. The storylines are interesting. The town council is pathetic. And Tom is terrific.
One suggestion: Deep six the phone calls from the ex-wife. It's impossible to have any sympathy for a California girl who would cheat on this man and still badger him long-distance.
