What's become of Detroit

My parents were over yesterday for a family gathering. During one conversation, Dad mentioned his dad's Model T and how the only way they could get up this particular hill north of the cemetery in Colchester, Illinois, was to climb it in reverse.

Instapundit links to a wonderful blogpost for Father's Day. Cars and dads. The stories vary wildly. My favorite was the girl whose father bought crappy Studebakers but each story has its own charm. Yes, lots of kids picked a make and counted cars on road trips. This was back when you could tell one make from another, even one year from another.

One of the commenters says his father died in 1991. If he were alive today, he'd be shocked to see what's become of Detroit.
